My name is Tamara and I am a mother, animal helper, artist, and adventurer. I am a crafter who has helped raise money for animals for as long as I can remember. We have been a homeschool family for a long time and because of that the kids and I get to volunteer a lot. I am thankful for this time together watching them grow and find their our paths in life.

Now that both of them are old enough to not need me anymore I wanted to find something new that I really enjoyed doing and have it be a benefit to animals. I thought it would be fun to make vegan themed jewelry. I started out by creating designs that I Couldn’t find anywhere.

I bought the supplies and started teaching myself in a little old chicken coop that I shared with my artist daughter who creates using glass.

I have been making jewelry and cutting my own stones for a little over a year now. I have taught myself many new skills since I found it is hard to trust items purchased from suppliers. Many of these suppliers sell gems which ruin our earth and are harming animals. It is very important to me to only buy supplies that didn’t cause cruelty to animals. I buy vegetable based waxes and polishes instead of the animal fat options, recycled metals, man-made polishing pads that are not felt wool, buy many of my rough stones from those that mined them ethically, and go without popular saw blade lubricant because they are all made with animal products just to name a few!

It is difficult in every industry to buy supplies that were not tested on animals or involving animal parts. I hope that changes in the very near future and by voting with my dollars companies know that there is a want for animal-free items. I love coming up with my own ideas for a piece of jewelry but my favorite thing to do is to work with another and together create a piece that they helped think up just for them! I hope to spark conversations when people see another wearing a piece of jewelry I created. There is so much that we need to be doing to help the animals and our planet.
