Vegan Athletes: Crissi Carvalho – The Vegan Australian Ninja Warrior!

My name is Crissi Carvalho, known online and on social as Vegan Fitness Model. I have 2 grown up sons (19 & 22) and happily married my soul mate plus we now have 2 rescue furbaby dogs. I am from down under in Australia. I run a successful International Online Vegan Health and Fitness Coaching business and 4 years non-stop I have been competing as a Vegan Bikini Bodybuilder. I have represented my country numerous times and last year won my division at Arnold Classic Australia, plus Finalist in the Arnold Classic Asia.

I am the author of the popular Vegan Fitness Food Meal Prep ebook, designer of Vegan Fitness Bodywear, which are all available online, via my website- Vegan Fitness Model. I love training in Calisthenics, Pilates and swinging around on Ninja Warrior obstacles. My prime focus in life is wellness living through a whole food, chemical free lifestyle. I practice regular fasting and all natural health protocols. I haven’t been sick with the flu or a migraine for 4 years…and the odd occasion I feel run down, I use nutritional or natural medicine techniques to heal my body.

What was the moment you realize that you wanted to go vegan?

I knew I had to go plant-based for my health, after watching a few documentaries, I couldn’t believe that my hard-earned money was funding the animal agriculture business and I was determined I didn’t want to indirectly or directly ever harm an animal. I stopped instantly, I call this my awakening.

What is the toughest Vegan item to find that you need?

Actually, there aren’t many as I do adapt. When it comes to food, at home in Australia I have everything, but good tempeh so I choose not to eat it. Recently, a holiday in Mexico Tofu was hard to buy, so I ate beans instead. There are always options. When it comes to clothing, gym shoes, that I actually like….so many still have leather on them somewhere or non-vegan glue.

Talk about a time when you struggled with your Veganism?

Truly, never. The only time is accepting the criticism from other Vegans, many times I thought about changing my name from Vegan Fitness Model because of this. But as with any truly passionate people, there will always be differences of opinions.

How has your life changed?

My life began at veganism!! BTW my life was good before, being vegan opened my mind, eye, and heart. Everything from that point has just excelled my passion and drive this has made me into whom I am today.
