This Inspirational Moment brought to you by, Joy L. Kahler, Littleton, Colorado
What has been the most difficult thing you’ve had to go through in your life?
Starting college at 33 years old to work on a Bachelors in Nursing while being a full-time mom of two, a wife and a volunteer.
What did you learn from it that you could pass on to someone else?
Always believe in yourself and never give up! Don’t get in your own head about going to college. Don’t go through it alone, if you need help; spiritually, financially, need a tutor, just ask! Don’t be too proud or stubborn to get help, it’s humbling and sometimes we all can benefit from enduring humbling experiences.
What has been the Happiest Moment of your life?
The birth of my two children. Nothing compares to seeing the life you have created come into this world.
What is your Passion?
Teaching patients about their situation and where to go for assistance or further education; I get excited when other people get excited about making empowered choices/decisions regarding their health.
What inspires you?
Personal experiences have always driven me. I continually say to myself ‘what if that was me? Knowing what I know, how would I handle that?’ I was blessed with a great deal of empathy and sympathy.
What is your favorite Inspirational Quote?
“Never measure your own greatness by someone else’s standards.” It is a personal quote I came up with, going through nursing school, I realized my own potential, not only as a student, but as a human being; I blossomed in nursing school, it was then that I realized how truly intelligent and caring I actually am; NOT brilliant, just intelligent by my own standards.
How do you try to inspire others?
People frequently ask for my advice about their direction of life or career choices and I tell them this, ‘nothing in life is certain, however, you make choices every day, learn from them if you don’t like them, make new choices. When you like them, then and only then can you help other people become more’. That is why we’re here on earth, to help each other; too many people forget that.
One non-profit you support?
What is one easy thing you can do to change the world for good in the next 24 hours?
