Inspirational Moment: Jamila Veasely – Everyone has the Potential to Give Something Back.

This is me with my middle sister and all of her girls at lunch one day. I became an auntie at 16 and it's a job that I take VERY seriously. My 3 nieces and 2 nephews mean the world to me and I'd do anything to see smiles on their faces!

What has been the most difficult thing you’ve had to go through in your life.

After a lot of thought, I have to admit I haven’t had much difficulty in my life. To give you an answer, though, I do have a defining point in my life and that was 9/11. ,

What did you learn from it that you could pass on to someone else?

I was about to be a sophomore in college and wanted help but didn’t know how. I was a “starving student” on the other side of the country and didn’t know how I could help. Fast forward 8 years and I started a non-profit dedicated to providing volunteer and philanthropy opportunities. The org is now defunct due to my ever increasing workload but I’m extremely proud of what we did and the experience really taught me that everyone can do something you just have to have a strong enough desire.

What has been the Happiest Moment of your life?

Marrying my husband after dating for 12 years!!! #CollegeSweethearts

What is your Passion?

Being a good wife/friend/sister/daughter.

What inspires you?

Goal getting women who remain authentic, fun & kind to others. I’d love for people to say that about me!

What is your favorite Inspirational Quote?

I actually have two

1-
Stand up to be seen
Speak up to be heard
Sit down to be appreciated.

2- Everyone has the potential to give something back. – Princess Diana

How do you try to inspire others?

Simple… by being my authentic self and trying to be kind to others.

One non-profit you support?

Circle of Friends– a social inclusion program for students with special needs, brings the understanding and acceptance of differences to school campuses.

What is one easy thing you can do to change the world for good in the next 24 hours?

Be kind

This picture makes me feel BEAUTIFUL!

At 29, I was the heaviest and most unhealthy I’d ever been in my life. As a former Division 1 athlete that really took a toll on me. For my New Years resolution I vowed to lose weight by my 30th bday in June. I started training for my 1st half marathon and lost almost 20 lbs by the end of May! This is my 30th birthday picture taken in St. Martin.
